Real Experience Using Messages by Google
Application Scenarios
In my day-to-day life, Messages by Google has become my go-to app for all forms of communication. Whether I’m coordinating plans with friends or sending quick notes to colleagues, the app seamlessly fits into my routine. Recently, I organized a weekend trip with friends. We used the group chat feature to discuss location options and share travel details, making it easy for everyone to stay on the same page. Additionally, when I needed to send a quick reminder to a coworker about an upcoming meeting, the app’s search function helped me find our previous conversation in a snap.
User Experience
The user interface of Messages by Google is clean and intuitive. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a straightforward layout that makes navigating through conversations effortless. The feature workflow is smooth; sending a message, sharing media, or searching for a specific chat is all done within a few taps. Notifications are timely, ensuring I never miss an important message. I’ve found that whenever I encounter a minor issue, a quick visit to the support page often provides the solution I need. Moreover, the active community of users discussing features and sharing tips adds another layer of support.
Security & Privacy Review
In today’s digital landscape, security and privacy are paramount concerns, especially for American users. Messages by Google is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that users can download it from trusted sources. When you first set up the app, it requires basic registration details, like your phone number, which can be a concern for those wary of sharing personal information. However, the end-to-end encryption provided in one-on-one conversations alleviates many privacy concerns, ensuring that only the sender and receiver can access the messages.
Moreover, the app does not bombard users with intrusive ads or excessive tracking behaviors, making it a more appealing choice for those who prioritize their privacy. Users can feel confident that their conversations remain private and secure, allowing for open communication without the fear of data misuse. Overall, Messages by Google strikes a commendable balance between functionality and user security, making it a reliable choice in the messaging app arena.

I had to switch to this from Samsung messages. Now, there is a big lag in the text I receive. I'll get the notification, but when I open my message, it takes a few seconds for the text to pop up, or I have to open the text thread from the person to see the actual text. I have tried to fix it through all of the settings. The only way I can get it to work well is to turn off RCS and obviously I can't do that or several other things won't work correctly. Edit: Suggestion made it worse

The lag it causes my phone is terrible. If I disable it, then my phone stops lagging. It's not an old phone and I don't have time for lag. I also don't have the ability to Group messages by type, it is not listed as an option under Message Organization. Plus my last messaging system let me place background images for text chats, which made it easier to identify which text chat I'm talking in. There doesn't appear to be that option in this App.

Just switched phones and I cannot get the RCS to work. I've tried all the steps and tricks. Not sure what to do, but I'm not getting any messages. This app needs work, especially if it's going to be the only one we can use in the near future. Edit to reply to response - I've done all of the troubleshooting. I also send feedback about 3 times. Haven't gotten any response or fixes.

Too slow, screen goes blank, can't respond to messages at times. The only thing I like is the extra emojis and I can like messages but other then that I miss my Samsung messages and now we're stuck with this? I'm not happy at all.. I'm forced to use this feature for messages. Sometimes I have to sure snap chat because Google messages is not responding. I'm frustrated. Last week I sent messages to my husband and 3 minutes later they disappeared. Like how is that even possible? So much is wrong

Make it like Verizon Messenger+ was!!!! please and thank you! It doesn't even show the same font that my phone is set for!!! Can't change bubble colors, can't set background pics, can't have a signature set, can't customize anything, there is a whole lot of can't on this app. Very disappointing. We need more custom options!!! My friends miss my signature even!
