Real Experience Using Zillow: Homes For Sale & Rent
Application Scenarios
As someone who has recently embarked on the journey of home searching, Zillow became an indispensable tool for me. I found myself using the app in various scenarios, from browsing listings during my lunch breaks to comparing properties while sitting on my couch at home. One evening, I was out with friends and overheard them discussing their own home-buying experiences. I immediately opened the Zillow app and shared some listings with them, highlighting the ones I found particularly interesting. It’s amazing how seamlessly the app fits into my daily life, allowing me to stay informed and engaged with the real estate market no matter where I am.
User Experience
The user interface of Zillow is sleek and modern, making it a pleasure to navigate. Upon opening the app, I was greeted by a clean homepage displaying featured listings and quick access to my saved searches. The workflow is straightforward: I can easily filter results by price, size, and other criteria, which saves me time and frustration. I was particularly impressed with the high-quality images and virtual tours that many listings included, allowing me to visualize spaces without needing to physically visit each one. Performance-wise, the app is responsive and loads quickly, which is crucial when you're eager to check the latest listings. Overall, using Zillow feels smooth and efficient, and it has significantly reduced the stress of my house-hunting adventure.
Pricing
Zillow is free to download and use, making it accessible to anyone looking for homes or rentals. However, it’s important to note that while the app itself is free, some features may lead to premium services or advertisements from real estate agents. I found this balance quite reasonable, as the app provides valuable resources without charging users upfront.
Updates & Support
Zillow frequently updates its app to enhance functionality and ensure a seamless user experience. I’ve noticed improvements in search filters and the addition of new features, like enhanced neighborhood insights. In terms of support, Zillow offers a robust help center, where users can find answers to common questions or report issues. I personally reached out for assistance regarding a listing discrepancy, and I received a prompt and helpful response that resolved my issue quickly.
Security & Privacy Review
As a user in America, security and privacy are paramount when using an app like Zillow. The application is available through official app stores, which adds an extra layer of credibility. To register, users are required to provide basic personal information, such as an email address, but the app allows for a degree of anonymity in searches. I appreciate that Zillow is transparent about its data collection practices, and I found their privacy policy to be straightforward.
Regarding ads and tracking behavior, I’ve noticed that Zillow does show targeted advertisements, which is common in free apps. However, the app does not feel intrusive, and the ads are generally relevant to my interests. I feel comfortable using Zillow, knowing that my personal data is respected while still benefiting from personalized content. Overall, Zillow strikes a good balance between functionality and user privacy, making it a trustworthy platform for home buyers and renters alike.

Can't apply through app, loads endlessly and screen times out (longer than 10 minutes of loading with no result). Edit: Computer worked fine, phone app was faulty. Rating reduced to 1-star, it forces a phone number which means that anyone you try to apply with can easily contact you OUTSIDE of zillow, which allows those who rent out/sell to sidestep zillow's terms of use since everyone just immediately contacts you through your phone instead of responding via zillow.

Needs an update. Lots of bugs! I get email notifications that I have a new message but when I click to view it on the app, I get an "invalid session" error message. in fact, no messages, old or new, show up. There are also no records kept of who I've contacted or scheduled any tours with so it's basically ineffective. Just a glorified search tool with no options to track progress. 1 star

Until a recent change, I kept a saved search of listings I could afford limited to 30 minutes from my job. That is no longer an option. Saved searches now show all listings within a very large distance from a currently unknown set point. I do not need listings over an hour away from work. This is a bad change.

The app had been generally decent to use, but it looks like with the most recent update they removed the commute time filter from the rental search. The saved search I have been using is suddenly inundated with listings over an hour away, and the option to filter them is mysteriously gone. I tried to use the feedback button in the app, but of course that didn't work either. So two stars.

the changes that you have made to the app suck. it's impossible to make the picture larger. for people who have sighted challenges it's awful! I don't like the split where half of it is a map and the other half is supposedly a picture that's so small you can't make it out at all. if you keep doing these this way I'm just going to stop looking at this app.
