Features & Highlights
EVgo is an essential app for electric vehicle (EV) owners looking to streamline their charging experience. With a variety of features that enhance usability and convenience, it stands out in the crowded marketplace of EV charging apps. Here are some of its core features that I found particularly useful:
Real Experience Using EVgo
Application Scenarios
As an EV owner, my daily life often intertwines with the EVgo app. I frequently use it to charge my car during work hours. On my lunch break, I typically drive to a nearby EVgo charging station. With the app, I can monitor my vehicle's charge status while enjoying my meal at a local café. The real-time updates keep me informed, allowing me to return to my car just as it finishes charging. Additionally, on weekends, I rely on the app for longer drives, where I can plan my route to ensure I have enough charging stops along the way. This flexibility has transformed how I manage my driving routine.
User Experience
The user interface of the EVgo app is clean and intuitive, making navigation a breeze. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a map view that highlights nearby charging stations. The workflow is straightforward; I can easily search for stations, view their availability, and initiate charging all within a few taps. The performance is commendable, as the app loads quickly and updates in real-time without noticeable lag. Overall, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The app makes charging my vehicle feel less like a chore and more like a part of my driving routine. I appreciate the thoughtful design that enhances user experience, especially for someone like me who often juggles work and personal commitments.
Pricing
EVgo offers a variety of pricing plans, including pay-as-you-go options and monthly subscriptions that can be tailored to individual needs. I opted for a subscription plan, which provides discounted rates for charging, making it more economical for my regular usage. The pricing is transparent, and I appreciate that there are no hidden fees. Each charging session clearly outlines the costs, which helps me manage my budget effectively.
Updates & Support
The EVgo app receives regular updates, which often introduce new features or enhance existing ones. I’ve noticed improvements in the map interface and additional charging stations being added frequently. Customer support is easily accessible through the app, and I had to reach out once regarding a minor issue. The support team was responsive and resolved my concern quickly, which reassured me about the reliability of the service.
Security & Privacy Review
As a user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, especially one that handles personal data and payment information. EVgo is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds an extra layer of trust, as these platforms maintain rigorous security standards. When registering for the app, I was only required to provide basic personal information, such as my name and email, which is fairly standard. Fortunately, there are no intrusive ads or excessive tracking behavior, allowing me to use the app without feeling bombarded or monitored.
Overall, I feel confident in using the EVgo app. It respects my privacy and prioritizes security, making it a reliable choice for EV owners. The combination of a user-friendly interface, robust features, and a commitment to user security makes EVgo an indispensable tool for anyone navigating the world of electric vehicle charging.

Update Evgo app doesn't allow you to stop the charge from your phone. The touch screen malfunctions at various locations but cx svc picks up quickyand getd me on my way. Both ChaDemos on the West side are infamous for having to call customer service to stop charging. Evgo chargers cost more up front than other stations and are slower. I often have to plug in and disconnect then try again because it couldn't connect the first time.

The chargers only work 30% of the time and if you contact customer support they're completely unhelpful. they can't answer simple questions in a timely fashion that should be available in the app. The app tells you your charging credits can expire but it won't tell you when. If you contact customer support they can't tell you either. If I didn't receive charging credits for evgo when I bought my car I wouldn't use their chargers. completely unreliable, about on par with Electrify America.

maybe not the cheapest but it's hella reliable and the hold is only $5 if you go through the app otherwise it's $55 every time and they hold it for like 3 to 5 business days each charge. call Luke driver so I was doing this multiple times a day at one point I had $200 in held funds. but if you go through the app it's only a $5 hold if you charge a lot the plus Max plan is actually a very good deal and pays for itself and basically one or two charges, usually one for me.

App is slow and clunky, does not accurately display chargers available/in use. Prices have gone up and the peak pricing is ridiculous, there are much cheaper options. I can't even see the screens on the physical charger, have to use the app to see my progress and it takes awhile to load even on strong 5g.

Only one car charging when I arrived. I plugged into Lakota. It said my car was not plugged in and to connect the cable to my car. I stopped the session and replugged the car. same thing. several morre attemps. I moved over to the next charger. it said it was offline. I went to the last charger. It said it was last used 45 minutes before me. It worked. Seems to be charging fast enough.
