Features & Highlights
Ally: Banking & Investing stands out in the crowded landscape of financial apps with a suite of features designed to simplify managing your money. Whether you're looking to save, invest, or just keep track of your financial health, Ally has something for everyone. Here are some of the core features I found particularly useful:
Real Experience Using Ally: Banking & Investing
Application Scenarios
Integrating the Ally app into my daily life has been a game-changer. Every morning, I start my day by checking my savings progress and investment status. I often find myself on my commute, glancing at my phone to see if my stocks have moved, or if my savings have increased. Just this past weekend, I used the app to quickly assess my financial position before making plans to travel. I wanted to ensure I had enough saved up for a fun getaway, and with Ally’s real-time updates, I felt confident to book my trip.
User Experience
From the moment I downloaded the Ally app, I was impressed by its sleek, modern design. Navigating through the various sections feels intuitive, allowing me to find what I need with minimal effort. The dashboard is particularly well-designed, offering a clear overview of my accounts and investments without overwhelming me with information. I appreciate how smooth the feature workflows are, whether I'm transferring funds between accounts or executing a trade. Performance-wise, the app runs seamlessly, with quick load times and minimal glitches. Overall, my feelings after using the app are overwhelmingly positive; it feels like I have my financial life organized right at my fingertips.
Pricing
Ally’s services come without the burden of hidden fees, which is refreshing. The high-interest savings accounts and no-commission trading are particularly appealing. While Ally does not charge maintenance fees on its banking services, the investment platform does have some fees for managed accounts, which are clearly outlined. This transparency makes it easy for me to understand what I'm paying for and helps me make informed decisions.
Updates & Support
Ally is committed to keeping its app updated with the latest security features and usability improvements. I’ve noticed regular updates that enhance functionality and introduce new features, which shows their dedication to user experience. Whenever I have needed support, Ally’s customer service has been exceptionally responsive. They’ve made it easy to get help through the app’s chat feature, and I’ve never felt left in the dark about any issues I’ve faced.
Security & Privacy Review
As an American user, security and privacy are top concerns when it comes to managing my finances. The Ally app, available on both the App Store and Google Play, prioritizes user safety with robust encryption and security measures. Creating an account requires personal information, but I appreciate that Ally is transparent about how this data is used. They don’t bombard me with ads or excessive tracking, which enhances my trust in the platform. Overall, I feel secure using Ally for all my banking and investing needs, knowing that my personal data is protected.

This is probably the worst maintained app I have installed on my phone. It constantly fails to pass me from notification to the relevant transaction, and instead lies saying: "We Apologize Our system has encountered an error we are unable to recover from and your request is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later or call us 24/7 for help." But that's not true, because if I navigate to the transaction from scratch, it's actually available. It's almost bad enough to make me switch banks.

Have you heard of password managers? If so, you would allow more special characters. Also, what's a password hint? Again, password managers. Don't need this. I expected more from a company that's focused on technology more than brick and mortar. It was easy to set up auto pay for my loan, but setting up my login was really annoying. I seriously don't even remember the last time I saw a password hint being required. It's 2024.

Really Like It. Only thing I would add is the current updates aren't as intuitive. On the bucket system it would be nice that the unbucketed would go right to the next bucket due (Yes,I did select automatic). Another thing, even when I do have to do it manually it would be nice to have the balance of the due amount instead of doing guess work.

Really slow to open compared to my other banking apps. There's always a big fat box about "Planning a cruise?" or "Explore Products" right at the top of the page above my accounts, please give the option to remove this or at least stick it at the bottom of the page, it's incredibly annoying, I just want to manage my accounts, I don't really care...

Edit: App works. The app is almost unusable. It's buggy, slow, and highly inconsistent. It works maybe 1/3 of the time. Sometimes I can't even log in or make transfers until I've restarted the app multiple times. Account information often takes 10+ seconds to load, and I frequently see errors like "We can't show your accounts right now," "System is unavailable". For an online-only bank, reliable access to accounts is essential.
