Features & Highlights
The Consumer Reports app is a treasure trove of insights and data designed to help users make informed purchasing decisions. Below are some of the core features that set this app apart:
Real Experience Using Consumer Reports
Application Scenarios
As someone who frequently shops for both necessities and luxuries, I find the Consumer Reports app to be an essential companion. For example, when I was on the hunt for a new mattress, I turned to the app. After browsing various options, I was able to access reviews that highlighted the pros and cons of each model, along with valuable insights on durability and comfort. This not only helped me avoid purchasing a poorly-reviewed product but also allowed me to find the best deal available online.
Another scenario I often encounter is choosing a new smartphone. The app’s extensive review database allowed me to compare features like battery life, camera quality, and software performance. I remember standing in a store, about to make a decision, and the app helped me realize that a slightly more expensive model offered significantly better performance for my daily needs.
User Experience
The user interface of the Consumer Reports app is intuitive and easy to navigate. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a clean layout that categorizes products efficiently, allowing me to find what I need quickly. The search function is robust, enabling me to type in any product and receive a list of relevant reviews and comparisons.
As for performance, the app runs smoothly without lag, even when loading detailed reports and images. I appreciate the ability to save my favorite products for later viewing, which I often do while planning my purchases. Overall, my experience has been very positive; I feel empowered and informed after using the app, which enhances my shopping confidence.
Pricing
The Consumer Reports app offers a subscription model with various pricing tiers. I opted for the annual subscription, which is reasonably priced considering the wealth of information and insights provided. For those who are unsure, a free trial is available, allowing potential users to explore the app’s features before committing. This flexibility is a major plus for budget-conscious shoppers.
Updates & Support
Consumer Reports is committed to keeping its app updated with the latest product reviews and features. I’ve noticed regular updates that enhance functionality and improve user experience. Additionally, their customer support is responsive and helpful; I once had a query regarding a particular product review, and I received a prompt and thorough response that addressed my concerns. This level of support makes me feel valued as a user.
Security & Privacy Review
Security and privacy are paramount for any app, especially one that deals with personal data. The Consumer Reports app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, where it has received positive reviews for its security measures. When registering for the app, users are required to provide minimal personal information, which is a relief in this age of data breaches.
Furthermore, the app does not bombard you with ads or engage in intrusive tracking behavior. I appreciate that my personal preferences and browsing history are kept private, allowing me to explore product reviews without feeling like I'm being monitored. Overall, Consumer Reports prioritizes user privacy, which is a significant factor in my continued use of the app.

They got away from what works. The way they used to display, present & compared items made reviewing easy. Increasing the annual fees and then requesting an additional $10.00 per month along with the constant bombardment for donations is more then I'm willing to deal with. After being a member for decades sadly it's time to break ties and look for other reviewers on line.

I installed the app thinking the search capability would be better than the browser. I was wrong. There are so few filters on appliances such as refrigerators to make it almost useless. For instance, on the browser, I could filter for counter depth. In the app I could not (the browser filters though cut off at too low a max price with no way to change it). I'm pretty disappointed. If I can't figure it a way to get what I need not easily, I will cancel my membership and demand a refund.

Every once in a while, I can always count on the CR app to fail to allow me to log in. No real reason; I can sign in on any web browser, but the app gives me an "Oops!" message and tells me that either my username or password are incorrect, which of course they aren't. I uninstall and reinstall the app, but nothing works... and then a few days later, it just starts working again. Not impressive.

I wanted to be able to search for a product and receive options for many different ones, not have to search for a specific product. I read to do this I need to go to consumer reports . org. I couldn't log in, I tried resetting and I kept getting an error message that my login or password were not found!! I canceled my membership if I could give zero stats I would. I'm very disappointed in CR! they charge a $10 "processing fee" to cancel your membership if done within 30 days! It's "standard"..

I pay for the subscription to have digital access to consumer reports research as I value and trust them. Sadly the app is pretty bad. It is not indexed well overall appears that little effort was played into it. Batteries for example..there are not dates listed and a very limited number of brands shown. One thing that troubled me the greatest is how there is an affiliate "buy here" all to Amazon. Sadly they don't even review other top selling brands. This is when people depend on CR the most.
